Let it rain (Crayola style)!
So it was only a matter of time till we tried one of these. They are everywhere on Pinterest and the blogosphere. And as well as making a very effective picture, they also looked like fun to make, so we had to try them out!!
What better time than Christmas? And what better recipients than my 2 sweet nieces?
Let the melted crayon fun begin!
{The little girl tipping out the paint can was taken from a cool graffiti found in a Melbourne lane way. And the other pic was drawn by Tomas (talented as she is :)}
These were tonnes of fun to make, and look lovely up on the wall. Perfect for sweet little girls!!
Have you tried making any of these yet? We'd love to take a look!!

We're back to state our Case
Well after a short break - we weren't just putting our feet up - getting our new "Web Design for Small Businesses" ventures going, we're back!
To commemorate, or to "break the bottle" as you will, we decided to get us some Jackie Case!
Jackie's pieces can be found around Melbourne. Recently, a gorgeous little collection was showing (and selling) at the lovely Three Bags Full Cafe. Pieces were hot property when we were last there!
Our little pencil & collage nugget was too special to walk past.
Visit Jackie Case Art to see more of these delicate, works of art...and perhaps you're feeling like a celebratory purchase of some kind yourselves...?

Its a darker art
Here at T&J HQ we love to have flowers about the place as I'm sure you do! But Jones likes to take that a step further, and give them a new light...or should I say, put them in the dark.
How did that shoe get in there? Nice stripes :)
And the lighter side...
She creates beautifully moody & almost haunting images. These can be used for striking works of art, or for simply as a thinking of you, or thank you card.

Romy & Michelle would be quite tickled I'm sure
As previously stated, I'd love to try and jot my thoughts in the way of the humble post-it. So here's my first thought...
...well, a girl can dream anyway... ;-)
I'm certainly no Marc Johns, but it's very liberating to say what you want...quick & simple! Try it!
Please do send us some of your little (in size, not in quality I'm sure) post-it inspirations. We'd love to feature them!!
More to come in the future...I'm addicted!

Sew you like Organisation?
Here's a great way to organise your cotton reels - and it makes for an unusual, yet crafty art display for your studio.
To get this look just...
To get this look just...
- use your ruler and mark where you want your nails to go first.
- then lightly hammer your nails into your wooden clipboard at about a 75 degree angle.
- slip your favourite cotton reels onto the nails.
- hang or display

A cup of tea makes it alright
Remember Charlotte Lily from our earlier post A Sweet Little Package? Well she's dazzling us with more lovely little goodies than ever!
Something you'll definitely want to add to your Wednesday wish-list are her darling fabric-covered button rings. She also does pins and hair clips. And we're just going to say one little word...
...Christmas :)
Here's what has delighted us lately...one could not possibly be without the other! The perfect pair of accessories for a little cafe rendezvous!
You can check Charlotte Lily out at her etsy shop, or at the Hide & Seek Market in Kellyville for the Sydney-siders. She's also recently been at the new Art & Design Market in Sydney.
Thanks CL <3
Happy Wednesday! xx

To Sketch or Not To Sketch
Here's a little something we're involved with at the moment.

The Sketchbook Project is open for sketchers of all abilities. All you need to do is choose a theme & fill up your moleskin.
We thought it was an interesting & fun idea to just send off your work to go on tour!
And best of all, everyone who submits a completed book is accepted!
Find out more at Art House Co-op.

The art of Spring...and polka dots!!
Happy Spring!!
Isn't the melting chill a beautiful thing? It's time to shrug off those heavy winter coats (well, almost if you're from Melbourne) and think about softer and more colourful fabrics.
Jones and I have been struck with Spring fever and are most excited at the blooms, breezes and turns of a flowing skirt to show the slightest hint of warmer charms to come!
This delightfully Spring-inspiring art by Maria Szollosi (aka Mariska) is so deliciously beautiful! Her fabulous fashion illustrations are completely gorgeous, and she has long been a favourite here at Tomas & Jones.
Maria has a breath-taking portfolio including fine art, fashion illustrations, clothing and calendars all at Red Bubble! I know you will fall in love with her stunning style, and feel yourself elevating into the same spring fever we are indulging in now - no matter where in the world you are!
Get your polka dots out! I guarantee you'll be floating on 'cloud spring' for the rest of the season!

Crafternoon Delight
What a lovely Winter's day for a little Crafternoon Delight, don't you think? Over here at Tomas & Jones we decided it would be our weekend's 'one weakness' :) So we decided to host our very first Crafternoon Tea in our Studio.
Jones' dear mum gave a crocheting demonstration however projects ranged from crocheting to knitting to sketching with pastels, and I think if it's not already obvious, to eating!! I think there was an obvious obsession on the latter for the photographer ;) More pics on the projects next time.
We were delighted also to have Tania from To Buy a Fat Pig Skype in with her creative children, who had clever projects going of their own.
What a splendid way to savour an afternoon being creative with friends.
Next time you're ALL invited! :)

Show & Tell Time!
I'd like to introduce you to these gorgeous ladies brought to us by the recently much talked about Magnolia Markets c/o- the very talented Mitchell & Dent all the way over from WA to share their goodies!
Aren't they darling girls perched up there (still awaiting some lovely frames). I was so excited to stop by and meet Angela & Leah of M&D!
My big dilemma was which spring lady to purchase! What could I do but decide there was actually nothing to be done but have both! Indeed the whole stall was so tempting I had to high-tail out of there in the end before I came home with the whole collection!
So many wonderful things at Magnolia I can hardly wait for the next. I do hope you got to pop in. I'd love to hear about the items you found and could not possibly leave behind too :)
Thank you again M&D for the treasures!
