Ready to Count Down?

We never really had Advent Calendars growing up, but I keep seeing them around, and suddenly am itching to try my hand at one.

Is it too late?!

It seems like a lovely tradition, and I love the thought that's gone into some of these.  Such as a list of 24 things to do to bring on the Christmas feeling, and get you thinking of others at this time of year.

It's a sweet idea...and if I can't get it going for this year, I'm going to set myself a reminder to get one going early enough for next Christmas...cause I don't know about you, but this one came around awfully fast, so I'm figuring before I know it, it will be next Christmas anyhoo!!

In the meantime, here's a little collection of lovely Advent Calendar ideas to get me going...

(Recycled Paper DIY Advent Calendar & Tutorial | by Lil Blue Boo)
(Vintage Advent Calendar & Tutorial | by Fun.kyti.me)
(Printable Advent Calendar | by Mr Printables)
(Mini Tree Advent Calendar - includes printout | by Oh Happy Day)
(That tiny tree tied onto the car just kills me!!)

Have you got an Advent Calendar up this year?!

Hyacinth's a bloomin!

I am not what you might call a good gardener.  Nor do I aspire to be to any large length.

However, I do very much love plants & flowers, & persist in trying to cultivate life in one form or another on the balcony or random window sill.

And just lately, most likely thanks to the lovely rainy winter, life has conspired to continue growing on said balcony & windowsill.

And so, since this is such a rare occurrence, I must in deed show off my little lovelies, in their well documented bid for life!

I hope you'll agree they are the sweetest little things, & they smell divine!

How does your garden grow this winter?!

Perfect Match

Canary Jane's is a very beautiful flower/gift shop that's opened up the street from where I work in Hawthorn.

I've popped in a few times now to pick up flowers and cards, and the last time I was there these very beautiful matches!

I'm actually not sure what the name of the very beautiful shop owner is, but I secretly call her 'Canary Jane'.  She's very lovely, & so cute, vintage style.

She plays old records on a player in the shop, and has canaries in a cage that whistle along, of course.  Too cute right!

It's a beautiful, happy place, and I have trouble walking past it!  Everything is very reasonably priced, and her flower arrangements are unique and beautiful.

Canary Jane's is the perfect match for Hawthorn all round!

Next time you're in Hawthorn make sure you visit Canary Jane's Flowers, or if you're not local you can take a peek at the very cute shop over on Facebook.

Like the matches?  You can check out the online collection of Saison Art Series Matches.

Studio Dreaming

We are currently trying to repurpose some space as a bit of a sewing/crafty nook!

In reality what we have to work with is a small space like this:

(Office of Colleen McGill, via Apartment Therapy)
While our minds are dreaming of a space more like this:

(Design by Pieter Estersohn via Buddha Interiors)
Hopefully we'll come up with a happy workable solution, despite the space restrictions, or perhaps because of them.

Happy long weekend everyone :)

April Snapped Up

So April's 12in12 was to take a picture a day!  Like so many others we snapped up the days of April.  Here's a belated snap-shot of the 30 days.

Let them eat cake - and with tea of course!

We've just signed up with Michael Nobbs' Sustainably Creative for daily podcast inspiration & more!

It's certainly easy to realise it's been several days (or longer!) since we've done something just for the simple pleasure of being simply creative.

Michael's short burst theories fit in with our own approach and have been an uplifting slap on the back for getting on & getting creative.  We've downloaded a couple of Michael's books & they really are lovely.

Whatever your creative passion, a daily fix can be really beneficial in keeping you on track, giving you the boost you need, and really, the thing that we really love about Michael is constant validation of the need for tea & cake!

...now was that the kettle?

Have a great week!
