Celebrating significant birthdays...

Here's a really super way to celebrate what might not always be considered a happy occasion.

Robyn of Mix, Mingle, Glow celebrated her 38th birthday with 38 random acts of kindness!

The acts ranged from leaving coins on a vending machine, putting out a treat and a note of thanks for the mailman, buying a gift card and giving it to the person behind her in line at the supermarket, and so on.

She carried these out with her family, so they all enjoyed the day together.

Isn't this a fantastic idea.

Crafty Spice has a birthday

This is the fabulous Miss C!

A very modern Miss she loves to dress to the nine's and rock it with the best of them...then come home and take out her knitting!

So when said Miss C's birthday was rolling round it was no surprise to hear that her birthday wish was "craft things"!

Her intuitive mother kindly passed this information on to her geographically distanced aunt, along with an excellent link to Ashley's very cool idea for craft in a jar, and voila, a gift was born!

(Oops, forgot to get a photo.  So, imagine if you will the contents above, in a jar, with this label and a little cloth cap.)

And it was declared by the birthday girl "This is the best present a little girl could get."

So all you aunts out there looking for a gift for their gorgeous little Miss, this one's a winner!!

Sometimes we're just feeling grumpy!  Especially on a Monday...lol

A birthday to celebrate

My Dad's fabulous!  Today was his 60th birthday!  And he was skydiving!!!  I'm not sure if he was as nervous as I was, but he put on a very brave face as he flew up and away, and then dropped to the earth at the speed of light!  A short burst of adrenalin, but one he loved, and something to cross off the bucket list!

I'm very proud of him!   I hope that at 60 I'm as into life as he is.  Here's to another fabulous 60 Dad!!

After we'd dropped him at the football (his choice not mine!) my sister (who made a surprise trip up from Hobart for Dad's birthday), Tomas and I explored Geelong.  What a beautiful country city it was today.  The sun was warm, the bay was like glass, and the houses looking over the bay made me want to move there straight away!

We found a great market, real trash and treasure style and the bargains began as soon as walked in the front gate.

What a fantastic time we had and fantastic treasures we unearthed:  a bowling ball and bag, some nice crockery, a cute little table (for my sister to try and take home on the plane!!), and a "yesterday's trolley" now all have a nice new home!

OK, let's go!

So, it was Saturday night & I was trawling my growing list of unread blogs (as you do). I came across a post on Daydream Lily introducing Bam Bam Creative's beautiful handmade homewares and it's owner Jess. So of course I checked it out for myself, and it's gorgeous, very well worth a good look around! While there I came upon Jess' cute as a button pin cushion tutorial.

So, there being no time like the present, after a quick scrounge in the cupboard I found the necessary ingredients and knocked up my own very gorgeous cushion for pins!

So, pleased with myself for being so crafty and productive on a Saturday night! And so pleased to be now following Jess at Bam Bam! Thanks Jess :)

Now, on a celebratory note: today is Tomas' birthday!! Tomas, of Tomas & Jones fame! Could there be a more auspicious time to start this blog going? So here's to Tomas & Jones...& especially here's to Tomas! Looking forward to taking this ride with you...& wishing you the best year of your life!!
