Paper Doll Love

If, like me, you loved paper dolls as a child...or if you just love fashion...or art...or beautiful things...you will love the paper dolls featured in the current edition of Frankie.

"Joan Pitman, born in Hobart in 1917, created a miniature world of fashion and glamour through her watercolour and pencil paper dolls, before going on to work as a commercial artist and designer of theatre sets and costumes." (Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery)

The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery was given the paper dolls by Pitman's family after her death in 2007, and have recreated them in beautiful booklets which are available for sale through the museum.

Carrying on the theme, here's a few other lovely dolls for purchase or download for that lovely little girl in your life...or inside of you :)

Betsy McCall was first introduced on McCall's magazine pages in 1952, and went on to have many wonderful adventures with her friends, family and pets.  You'll find an extensive collection of the Betsy paper dolls from the 1950s to the 1990s over at www.thebleudoor.com.

Legacy Designs have a large collection of wonderful dolls to choose from.  Ranging from the whimsical

  1. Hi there! Thanks for visiting my blog and saying hello... I LOVED paper dolls when I was a kid! I actually bought the cutest little vintage paper doll set about 2 years ago - it's still in its packet just waiting for a little person to come and play with it.

    Lovely blog you have.
