"French Doors"...a sign perhaps?!

Tomas and I had dinner with good friends Hayley and Jason last night. We were almost at their place. The night was dark and there was barely a soul around! Suddenly Tomas called out "French Doors!" and slamming on the brakes we saw a couple of doors leaning up against a tree by the side of the road.

Now, I love free junk just as much as the next person, and some of my favourite treasures have been found on the side of the road, but I'm very very bad at stopping and collecting the items.

Usually it has to be in the very still of the darkest night, and then with much stealth I scurry out and collect what my eye has caught in the daylight hours. Anyone else the same? In theory I know that the item/s are no longer wanted, or else why would they be out on the side of the road, but I still cannot bring myself to openly stop and collect these treasures.

And even though it was exactly as described above, very darkly night, I still felt too much trepidation to go out and grab the things!  But, after much negotiating about who and how the items should be collected, and after enlisting Hayley's help, the doors were deposited in the back of Tomas' little car, 'Aretha'!

Not before Jason, Hayley and even Tomas and I had declared that these were in fact pantry doors and not french doors at all...but regardless the doors were deposited, and are now sitting on our balcony waiting to be transformed into something much more interesting and beautiful than pantry doors! Even we don't know what yet, but stay tuned, and if you have any great ideas do let us know!!

Coincidentally a few weeks ago my lovely 'little' cousin asked me if I would like to accompany her on a graduation trip to Europe, etc.  I'd ummhed and ahhed for a bit, as I had intended to do something a bit more grown-up than tripping around the world this year, such as buy a house!  But, this did seem like a great time to spend some bonding, cousin time with Ashlea before she's too grown-up and married off, and I've been a bit inspired lately by the lovely experiences shared by Kim (Mimi Charmante) & Kasey (Lola B) of their adventures in Paris, and then these 'French doors' turned up...what was a girl to do?

So, I sent her a little message tonight:

I think she got the message!!

So, yes, it looks like come November I'll be winging my way to parts as yet unknown, but exciting nevertheless!

Nice way to start the week, yes?!  Hope yours is off to as nice a start!

Jones :)
